As I see it, I’m Andy Parish. A Dane County judge just turned Act 10 into legal origami, folding established law into something completely unrecognizable. This isn’t judicial review, it’s judicial rewriting.
Act 10 was our fiscal firewall, saving taxpayers billions, by simply requiring public employees to pay their fair share for their health care and, their pensions. The law also introduced accountability into public sector unions, and prioritized performance over seniority.
The judge claims that the law is unconstitutional, because it treats general employees and public safety employees differently, even though this was upheld by higher courts in 2014.
When courts start acting like legislators, democracy isn’t just compromised, it’s turned into a high stakes game of judicial roulette. And the taxpayers? We’re the ones left holding an empty wallet and a broken, promise of fiscal responsibility. This, folks, is judicial activism at its most reckless. I’m Andy Parish on WIZM.
